Meet the Animals

Every face has a story. Every life matters.

The animals who call Pear Tree Farm home are not numbers as they would be in the farming industry. They are individuals, with personalities, preferences, friendships, fears, and joy.

Some arrived frightened. Some arrived injured. Some arrived just in time.

All are safe now.

This page is an invitation to meet them, to see who they are, not what they were used for.

A Home, Not a Display

Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary is first and foremost a place of refuge.

That means:

  • Animals are never forced to interact

  • Their comfort always comes before visibility

  • Some animals may not be available to meet or photograph

  • Some stories are still unfolding

What you see here is shared with care, respect, and the animals’ wellbeing at heart.

Our Residents

  • Ada

Ada arrived at the sanctuary as a one-week-old kid, saved along with her siblings from the dairy industry. She was tiny, frightened and unsure at first, but with time, care and lots of bottle feeds, she learned she was safe. Now fully grown, she is affectionate, vocal, and full of character. She loves hay, being close to her sister Bella, and making sure the humans know exactly what she wants.

  • Bella

Bella was rescued as a baby alongside her siblings when the farm they were born on closed down. Once shy and nervous, she is now confident, playful and known for her climbing skills. She is happiest when she’s near Ada, exploring her surroundings, and enjoying a peaceful life she was never meant to have.

  • Russell

Russel arrived at the sanctuary as a very frightened lamb who struggled to settle and trust. Slowly, with gentle care and the friendship of other sheep, he found his confidence. Today he is relaxed, curious and loves spending his days grazing, exploring the orchard and cuddling up with his flock at night.

  • Daisy

Daisy arrived at the sanctuary already blind and very unsure of her new surroundings. With patience, routine and the support of her friends, she learned to feel safe and navigate her world with confidence. She now lives peacefully with her flock, enjoying quiet days grazing and warm straw beds at night.

  • Jason

Jason was born wild on Bodmin Moor and later sold as a riding pony, passed between owners who tried to “break him in.” When he arrived, he was nervous and wary, but over time he learned he was safe. Now he lives calmly with his friends, enjoying hay, muddy rolls, and galloping freely in the fields.

  • Sabrina

Sabrina was rescued from neglect and exploitation and arrived fearful and defensive. With time and kindness, she learned to trust and became playful, sociable and affectionate. She now lives happily with her ferret family, spending her days playing, exploring and snuggling into warm cuddle piles.

  • Florence

Florence was one of the first animals to arrive at Pear Tree Farm, saved from slaughter with her two sons. Once shy and nervous, she has become a gentle, affectionate matriarch who loves belly rubs, socialising with her herd and keeping a calm watch over the sanctuary. She is kind, strong and deeply loved.

  • Stompy

Stompy was sold as a “micropig” and quickly grew too big for his original home. When he arrived, he was energetic and mischievous, but soon settled into sanctuary life. Now he enjoys rooting in the soil, lounging in his straw bed, and spending time with his pig friends, living the life every pig deserves.
