Our Mission & Values

Why we exist. How we act. What we stand for.

Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary was created to challenge the idea that some lives matter less than others.

We exist to rescue, protect, and care for farmed and working animals who have been neglected, abused, or destined for slaughter, and to offer them safety, dignity, and compassion for as long as they need it.

Everything we do is guided by a simple belief:

Because every animal has the right to a peaceful, happy life.

Our Mission

To rescue animals and change how they are seen.

Our mission is to provide refuge for animals in need, while also helping people see farmed animals differently, not as products or “industry”, but as individuals with personalities, emotions, and a desire to live.

We do this by:

  • Rescuing animals from slaughter, neglect, and harmful situations

  • Providing lifelong sanctuary or carefully chosen rehoming

  • Sharing honest stories about the realities animals face

  • Promoting kindness, respect, and compassion through education

Rescue is only part of the work.
Changing hearts and minds matters just as much.

These values guide every decision we make.

  • Compassion First

    Every animal is an individual.

We treat every animal as a someone, not a something.
Their needs, personalities, boundaries, and histories matter, always.

  • Respect for Life

    All lives have equal value.

We reject the idea that usefulness determines worth.
No animal is disposable. No life is secondary.

  • Safety Without Conditions

We say yes when animals need us.

We provide refuge without judgement, expectation, or demand.
Animals are not required to “earn” care or affection.

  • Dignity in Care

Healing happens at the animal’s pace.

Recovery is not rushed. Trust is not forced.
We meet animals where they are, and move forward gently.

  • Honesty & Transparency

We tell the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.

We believe in open, honest communication about animal welfare, rescue realities, and how donations are used.

    Trust matters.

  • Community & Connection

    Rescue is never done alone.

Our work is powered by supporters, volunteers, adopters, and kind-hearted humans who choose to care.

    Together, we save lives.

What We Believe

About Animals

We believe animals:

  • Experience fear, joy, grief, and comfort

  • Form bonds and relationships

  • Want safety, choice, and peace

  • Deserve to live free from exploitation and harm

Farmed animals are not lesser beings.
They are individuals, just like companion animals.

About Rescue

Rescue is not neat.
It involves hard choices, emotional loss, and lifelong responsibility.

We believe:

  • Saving one life matters, even if we can’t save them all

  • Education and rescue must exist together

  • Providing lifelong care is just as important as rehoming

Every life saved is a victory.

How Our Values Show Up Every Day

  • In the way animals are housed, handled, and spoken to

  • In how we prioritise welfare over convenience

  • In careful, ethical rehoming decisions

  • In transparency about funding and challenges

  • In the way we welcome people into the sanctuary

Our values are not words on a wall.
They are lived, every single day.

Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary is more than a place.

It’s a promise.

A promise to care. A promise to protect. A promise to see animals as they truly are.

Thank you for standing with us.
