Our Team
Humans who show up, every single day.
Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary is run by people who care deeply, work relentlessly, and believe that animals deserve more than the lives they were born into.
There is no “typical” day here.
There are early mornings, late nights, heavy lifting, heartbreak, small victories, and moments of pure joy.
What holds it all together is the people.
A Sanctuary Built by People Who Care
Behind every rescued animal is a human who noticed, stepped in, stayed late, got muddy, cried, learned, and kept going.
We are not a large organisation.
We don’t have departments or layers.
What we have is:
Commitment
Compassion
Resilience
And a shared belief that every life matters
This work is demanding, physically, emotionally, and financially, but it is also deeply meaningful.
The Core Team
Holding the sanctuary together, every single day.
Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary is run by a small, dedicated team of carers and volunteers who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to ensure every animal receives the care they need.
Katherine Mount
Co-Founder
Katherine is the co-founder of Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary and one of the hearts behind the project. She helped create Pear Tree to offer animals a safe, compassionate space where they are valued as individuals, not commodities. Katherine is deeply committed to creating a kinder, more respectful relationship between humans and other animals, and to building a place where visitors can truly connect with them.
Co-Founder
Teresa Mount
Teresa co-founded Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary alongside Katherine, driven by a lifelong love for animals and a desire to protect them. She plays a key role in shaping the sanctuary’s vision and ensuring every animal receives the care, dignity and respect they deserve. Teresa is passionate about creating a sanctuary that is both a refuge for animals and a place of learning and compassion for people.
Bex Barlow
Co-Founder & Trustee
Bex is a co-founder and trustee of Pear Tree Farm Animal Sanctuary and remains a passionate, long-distance supporter of the sanctuary’s work. Although no longer involved in the day-to-day running, she continues to play an important role in guiding the sanctuary, supporting the team, and championing the animals from afar. Her care, dedication and vision helped shape Pear Tree Farm into the safe haven it is today.
Chris Bull
Volunteer
Chris is a dedicated volunteer at Pear Tree Farm, focusing mainly on the care of the horses. She supports their daily routines, handling, and welfare, helping to ensure they are healthy, relaxed and thriving in their new lives. Chris brings patience, consistency and a genuine love for the horses to everything she does.
Autumn Mason
Admin Manager
Autumn looks after general enquiries, arranges sanctuary tours, and manages volunteer applications, helping people get involved and support the animals at Pear Tree Farm. She also volunteers regularly on site, assisting with daily tasks and maintenance to keep the sanctuary running smoothly and the animals happy.
Sanctuary Manager
Isabel Stanley
Izzy lives on site at the sanctuary and is responsible for the daily care of the animals, including health and medical needs. She also helps train new volunteers, sharing her knowledge and experience to ensure the highest standard of care. For Izzy, it’s a privilege to look after the animals and help give them the happy, peaceful lives they deserve.
Community & Partnerships
Rescue doesn’t happen in isolation.
We’re lucky to work alongside some truly wonderful humans and organisations who share our values.
One of these is Compass, an alternative education provider supporting young people through outdoor learning, animal care, and connection with nature.
Working with animals in a calm, respectful environment can be transformational, building confidence, empathy, and a sense of purpose.
We are incredibly proud of the mentors and participants who make this work possible.
